BASIC Guidelines
- The BASIC is open to all high school and elementary students. Participating science clubs are encouraged to affiliate with PSYSC.
- No registration fee is required. Materials for the workshops will be provided by PSYSC.
- A maximum of ten elementary (Grades four to six) and high school (1st year to 4th year) students from a science club may participate.
- Participating schools should confirm to the National Office at (02) 920-8174 or (02) 920-9561. All Participants must submit their registration forms before 29 August 2008 to the following address:

SUMMIT Guidelines
- The National Science Clubs Summit (SUMMIT) is open to all high school science clubs affiliated with PSYSC in the current school year. Clubs may affiliate during registration.
- Registration fee is Php 200.00 it covers workshop materials, kits, and handouts. Meals and snacks will NOT be provided. Participants may bring their own food or avail of the food at the school canteen.
- Participants will be housed in classrooms of the host school and are required to bring their own sleeping materials.
- Submit all registration forms before 29 August 2008 to the following address:

- Postal Money Order (PMO) payable to Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs, Inc.
- Participants who fail to submit their registration I forms and pay the registration fee before 29 August 2008 shall be charged Php 350.00, Non-affiliates will be charged Php 1,000.00.

Science Club Showcase General Guidelines
- All participating clubs in the National Science Clubs Summit are eligible to join the Science Club Showcase.
- The Science Club Showcase is NOT a competition; rather it is an exhibit of the science clubs represented by the school.
- Each Science Club must bring a display material in any form (scrapbook, poster, display board, tarpaulin, etc.) to showcase the name, identity or background of their science club, projects, and their accomplishments.
- Display specificications:
- The size of the display must not exceed one square meter.
- It is creatively designed. Pictures, figures, etc., can be added to enhance the aesthetic appeal of the display.
- It is lightweight and can be easily mounted on walls using tapes or strings. However glue sticks, double sided tapes, or any mounting material that may leave marks on walls are NOT allowed.
- All materials will be mounted on the display room before the opening program and will be displayed during the whole duration of the activity.
- All entries will receive a certificate of merit. Special awards are to be given.

General Plan of Action
All participating science clubs in the SUMMIT are requested to bring their General Plan of Actie (GPOA) following the format below. The GPOA must contain the collective program of activities that the science club wishes to conduct for school year 2008-2009. The GPOA must be in a letter size bond paper, landscape and must bear the club's name and school. The GPOA will be collected before the opening program.
Math-Sci-a-Ka Guidelines
- The Math-Sci-a-Ka is open to all science clubs in Luzon, affiliated with PSYSC in the current school year. Clubs may affiliate during registration. Affiliation Guidelines
- The competition has two (2) main brackets:
- Bracket 1 - Elementary
- Bracket 2 - High School
- There are three (3) kinds of workshops for every bracket as follows:

- 2 EngSci Challenges of the Year
- 1 On-the-Spot workshop
- 1 Interactive workshop

Bracket 1 Elementary:
- The EngSci Challenge is a science project that is to be accomplished prior to the event, it will undergo evaluation and testing during the Math-Sci-a-Ka. Project Guidelines.
- The Interactive workshop and the on-the spot workshop is conducted during the Math-Sci-a-Ka. All materials in the interactive and on-the-spot workshops will be provided by PSYSC.
- Math-Sci-a-Ka participants mayor may not submit an entry for the EngSci Challenge but all workshops will be considered in determining the winner.
- Winners of the EngSci Challenges for the year shall be record holders in the PSYSC Book of Records for that specific challenge.
- Each participating science club can send only one (1) team per bracket, Each team should be composed of five (5) science club members.

PSO Guidelines
- The competition is open to all Grade Five (5) and Grade Six (6) elementary students and Third (3rd) and Fourth (4th) year high school students enrolled for the School Year 2008-2009 and a member of a science club affiliated with PSYSC in the same school year.
- The competition has two (2) main brackets:
- Bracket 1 - Elementary
- Bracket 2 - High School
- Each participating science club can send only one (1) competing team per bracket.
- Each competing team should be composed of three (3) team members.
- Relatives of the PSYSC National Executive Council and the PSO Working Committee up to the second degree of consanguinity are not allowed to join the competition.

National Eliminations
- The National Eliminations is a written individual examination.
- The exam will be conducted simultaneously on September 6, 2008 (Saturday) in selected testing centers nationwide. There are eleven (11) testing centers all over the country.
- Participants are required to follow the schedule of activities during the event.
- The examination is a multiple choice test good only for two (2) hours. No extension will be given to those who come in late.
- There are 100 questions per bracket based on the following categories:
- Bracket 1 - Elementary
- Physical Science
- Basic Information Technology
- Life Science (Plants, Animals, and their Environment)
- Astronomy
- Health (Human Body)
- Bracket 2 - High School
- Earth Science
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Physics
- Information Technology
- Bracket 1 - Elementary
- Participants are required to bring the following:
- At least two (2) pencils (Mongol No.2)
- Eraser
- Current School ID
- High School Participants are required to bring a non-programmable scientific calculator.
- Scratch papers will be provided by the organizers.
- The final score of the team will be determined by adding the respective scores of the team members.
- The twenty (20) teams with the highest accumulated scores in all the testing sites will be the official participants to the National Finals.
- There will be a Top School and a Top Scorer for each site to be announced on the same day.
- Qualifiers to the Finals will be announced on the same day of the competition. Final results will also be available in all DOST Regional Offices.
- In case any of the top twenty (20) teams will not be able to attend the National Finals, the rankings will be used to determine the national finalists.
- Certificates of Participation shall be awarded to all participating schools.
National Finals
- The National Finals will be conducted on 27 September 2008 (Saturday). The venue will be announced on a later date.
- The National Finals will have a preliminary elimination round and a final theoretical oral round.
- During the elimination round, the twenty teams will take practical exam.
- After the elimination round, the top ten teams will advance to the theoretical oral exam.
- The participants shall shoulder their board and lodging expenses and transportation expenses. However, the organizers shall provide solicitation letters to aid the financial expenses of the participants.
- Substitution of team members will not be allowed.
- All National Finalists will receive medals and Certificates of Recognition, to be awarded during the National Finals.
