The world is changing.
Natural hazards are increasing more and more in intensities as man continues to advance with their lifestyles.
Ondoy, Pepeng, and all the other names we came to associate with heavy gusts of winds, rains, lanslides, and floods.
The Mayon Volcano eruption.
The Haiti 7.5 magnitude earthquake.
Natural hazards. Natural disasters.
They are unavoidable. They are Mother Nature’s way of keeping the balance of life. They will continue to exist as long as life exists.
But it doesn’t mean you can’t do anything about these hazards. YOU CAN actually lessen its effects.
The way to deal with these hazards is to make an empowered citizenry. A generation who understands, who knows, and who is prepared to face these disasters.
Be part of this new generation! Together, let us develop a culture of safety!

Weekend Science Fun Treats featuring Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs
Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs is a movie about a town called ‘Swallow Falls’ where food falls from the sky. In this movie, weather disturbances such as tornadoes and typhoons are depicted with a twist. Swallow Falls experiences giant spaghetti tornadoes and mutant food attacks.
The timeless tale has been adapted from Ron and Judi Barrett’s book, which illustrates a world where giant pancakes and pasta fall from the sky as a scientist tries to solve world hunger. However, things go terribly wrong when excess amounts of food overload cities and towns.
For the release of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs in the Philippines, NIDO FORTIFIED Science Discovery Center together with SM Cinemas would like the kids and kids at heart to get a feel of what a resident of Swallow Falls regularly experience while learning about weather and nutrition.
Fun-filled and interactive activities infused with Science concepts and lessons on food pyramid, food groups, weather and weather disturbances are lined-up in an event for the opening of Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

The National Children’s Science Interactive Workshop returns to the Visayas via the beautiful province of Aklan.
